President and founder trained in the fine arts and decorative arts as a youth, he was a Commercial and Graphic Design artist, a signage and publishing artwork freelancer during his college years. He also was production artist at advertising agencies and sign manufacturing firms throughout the 1970's. 

Graduate from Ventura High, in Ventura California. Studied Design at Ventura College focusing on Architecture and Woodworking. A passionate Mid-Century collector, and with keen sense for modern design. Joshua started with RGS as a CAD apprentice in his last year of high school, and has great ability in digital conceptualization and renderings. He has gone to pursue other interests, but has accumulated 2+ years of experience with RGS. In 2011 has returned to infuse the office with his talent.

He attended the School of Architecture at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala in Guatemala City, from 1979 to 1982. During his enrollment at this school, he held positions as drafstman & junior assistant at structural and electrical engineering firms respectively. Through the late 80's he held positions in Graphic Design. In 1989 he had his last position as Graphic Designer to dedicate full time for his passion for architecture. Between 1992 - 1995 he took studies in Construction Technology in the USA. In the late 90's he worked for two architectural firms, in Ventura, CA. and in 2000 completed his degree: Associate in Science Architecture. From 2000 to 2004 he conducted travel-studies on Renaissance Architecture through Spain, Italy and France. He formed RGS design in 2002 in Ventura, CA. as a single proprietorship. Today Renato is President and project manager at RGS Design Studio Inc. focusing on GREEN building design, interiors and landscape. He is currently studying to obtain his credentials in LEED environmental design, and strives for accuracy and innovation.

OUR philosophy: we support green technologies as methods for construction, foment the use of renewable materials and encourage prospective clients to consider energy saving devices. We believe buildings ought to respect its surroundings and the environment, thus a designer's prime responsibility is to be a viable leader. RGS promotes Infill development, recycle and reuse of buildings and materials, and better interior air quality. Our consensus is to be actively involved in order to uphold these principles, that is why we joined THE NATIONAL TRUST FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION & The U.S GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL. Through these memberships we hope to advance preservation and renovation as ways to conserve natural resources, reduce energy consumption, minimize the impact on the environment, and improve the health of buildings occupants. We encourage owners and builders to adopt these alternatives, as a guide for their project's approach.
